Detailed Description

These strong and healthy overwintered nucleus colonies of Buckfast bees are ideally suited for the Beginner, as they are gentle, with good disease resistance and a very low tendency to swarm, while being surprisingly hard-working.

None of our Queens are imported from Southern Europe or other places with a climate much warmer than our own.  They therefore have a better chance of surviving a long wet winters than those adapted for hot summers and short Winters.

Pay £30 deposit to secure your bees and a balance of £170, (inspection recommended) and your bees will be ready for collection from (late April if Spring comes early) May.

You will get a British bred 2016 Buckfast Queen (marked) with five frames of food and brood in all stages covered in bees and one frame of fresh foundation.  They will be housed in a 6 frame Paynes poly nuc hive, made from high density polystyrene, with a varroa mesh floor, integral feeder and a perspex cover board; allowing you to peek in without disturbing your colony. This is a very useful piece of kit  for catching swarms or making your own nucleus colonies once you have moved your bees into their new full-sized home.
